Below is a description of the Yoga classes I teach. I hope this is helpful for you in selecting a class. I offer modifications for beginning and advance students. Always remember to move at a pace that is appropriate for your body and skill level.
I look forward to seeing you in class.
This class offers slow movement to energize the body and relax the mind. We begin by focusing on the breath and letting go of the day's events. We then move slowly in a seated position to work out any tightness and tension in the neck, shoulders and arms. We then transition to standing to involve the entire body. We flow through a gentle Vinyasa (a physical practice of moving the body in a special and specific way) series. We hold standing poses to strengthen and stretch the lower body. We complete the class with gentle stretches to cool and calm the body before our final pose, Savasana.
After this class you will feel strong, at peace and empowered.
Gentle/Restorative Yoga
This class is taught at the end of the work day which is a great way to transition into the evening. We begin in a relaxing supportive pose using blankets or a bolster to support the body and access a relaxed state. Next, I guide the class in a gentle Yoga sequence to lubricate the joints and muscles. Then, I offer 2 to 3 restorative Yoga poses which are held from 5 to 15 minutes each.
Restorative Yoga is made up of specific postures intended to tap into the body’s natural ability to relax and heal. By offering more time to linger in poses and poses themselves that are intentionally gentle, restorative yoga aims to create zero strain on the body – both physically and emotionally. When we offer ourselves the freedom to experience that, our natural state of peace, clarity, and contentment arise spontaneously.
After this class you will leave with a sense of serenity, peace and joy.
This class is taught at sunrise time which is a great way to start the day. We begin with slow movements to warm up the body. We progress to standing to do a few Sun Salutations and balancing poses. After completing an energizing standing sequence, we move to the floor for calming forward folds, twists and stretches. The class ends with a relaxing pose of Savasana.
After this class you are ready to face the day with peace and joy.
